Egypt to Develop Post Offices with Investments Worth EGP 4 Bln

Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology said that a plan is being implemented to develop Egyptian post offices and increase the number of its branches with investments of EGP 4 billion in 2021.

Talaat explained, during the meeting of the Senate Education and Scientific Research Committee on Sunday that it is intended to establish 500 new offices, reaching 4,500 post offices by the end of 2021, while developing 1,500 offices to bring the number of developed post offices to 3,100 offices.

The post offices will also be equipped with thousands of automatic teller machines to reach 1750 machines, and the postal booths increased from 30 to 100, in addition to 50 mobile offices were equipped to reach 85 offices, according to the Middle East News Agency (MENA).

He emphasized that the development process includes achieving a qualitative transformation in the services provided within the Egyptian post offices to include, along with postal services, the provision of vital services to citizens, the most prominent of which are Egypt's digital services and financial inclusion services.

He pointed out that a project for the restoration and development of the Egyptian Postal Museum at Ataba was implemented in preparation for its reopening.

Finally, Egypt Post won today the Digital Excellence Award as the best Arab postal institution to implement digital transformation.
