Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla said the ministry is studying the setup of a globally accredited refinery to purify and stamp gold bullion with a purity of 99.9%.

During his meeting with Marie Lemay, the head of the Royal Canadian Mint, and her accompanying delegation, El Molla added that the ministry is studying opportunities for cooperation and partnership with international companies that have the expertise and technology to localize this activity in Egypt, which represents an essential addition to the advantages of the Egyptian mining industry.

He stressed the importance of exploring possibilities of cooperation, during the coming period, with the Canadian Corporation in a number of priority areas to develop and modernize the gold mining industry in Egypt, foremost of which is the training of human cadres, development, and innovation.

During the meeting, they discussed cooperation opportunities in light of the possible cooperation and partnership opportunities between the two sides offered by the strategy of developing and modernizing the Egyptian mining sector and the Canadian Corporation's interest in investing in Egypt.

El-Molla noted that the ongoing efforts to develop and modernize the Egyptian mining sector require the establishment of partnerships on an ongoing basis with major international companies and institutions to benefit from its long experience and advanced technologies.

The minister pointed out that his country has significant advantages in front of mining investments, such as the availability of qualified human cadres, technology, and infrastructure.
