The Information and Decision Support Center of the Egyptian Cabinet (IDSC) has released a new report that includes the most prominent statements of the Minister of International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat on the government’s plan and procedures for sustainable management of water resources.
Al-Mashat explained that during the fiscal year 2020/2021, the government allocated about 26% of public investments in the water and sanitation sectors, and that 295 drinking water projects were completed in 2020 with a cost of $2.4 bn, in addition to 52 wastewater treatment projects being implemented in Upper Egypt has a processing capacity of 418 mn m3 annually.
Al-Mashat also indicated that the government is offering low-cost financial packages to the private sector to carry out water-desalination projects and others through cooperation with financial institutions such as the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the World Bank, and the European Investment Bank.
