On Monday, Egypt reported 81 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total tally to 283490 since the pandemic outbreak began in February 2020.
The health ministry also reported 7 new deaths, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus to 16425.
The statement said that 689 patients were discharged after recovering from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 221516.
Egypt began vaccinating priority groups earlier in March under a wider rollout of the vaccination program after it concluded the vaccination of the country’s medical staff in the past few weeks.
It has now opened registration for all citizens who are 18 and above.
Up to 20,000 Egyptians register daily on the government’s website; to be vaccinated against the coronavirus, according to health minister Hala Zayed last Wednesday.
The expansion comes as it pushes with efforts to secure vaccines for the over populous nation as it expands its immunization program.
