Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty met on Monday with Omar Mohanna, Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt, and Tarek Tawfik, former Chairman and current board member of the chamber.
The meeting focused on the long-standing economic partnership between Egypt and the United States, which Abdelatty described as a cornerstone of the strategic relationship between the two countries. He reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to strengthening economic, trade, and investment cooperation with the American side.
Abdelatty highlighted the success of the Egyptian–American Economic Forum hosted in Cairo in May 2025, which saw broad participation from leading U.S. companies and contributed to enhancing cooperation between the public and private sectors in both countries.
He expressed Egypt’s aspiration to hold the second edition of the forum during the first half of 2026, aiming to deepen institutional cooperation between the Egyptian and American business communities and open new avenues for investment partnerships.
The foreign minister also outlined Egypt’s competitive advantages for investors, pointing to its strategic geographic location, advanced infrastructure, extensive network of free trade agreements, and strong regional supply chains. These factors, he noted, position Egypt as a key hub for accessing African, Middle Eastern, and European markets.
Looking ahead, Abdelatty stressed that the coming phase will focus on expanding business-to-business ties between Egypt and the United States in several promising sectors, including industry, logistics, energy, digital infrastructure, pharmaceuticals and healthcare systems, and tourism. He said these efforts are expected to attract new investments, boost exports, and create job opportunities across multiple fields.
