Egypt & Russia Pledge to Strengthen Strategic Cooperation

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met in Cairo on Saturday, reaffirming their shared commitment to enhancing strategic cooperation between the two countries, Xinhua reported.

According to the Egyptian Presidency, President El Sisi expressed appreciation for the steady growth of bilateral relations across political, economic, and commercial sectors. 

He highlighted key joint projects, including the Russian industrial zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone and the Dabaa nuclear energy plant.

Lavrov reiterated Russia's commitment to building on understandings reached during Presdient El Sisi’s visit to Moscow in May, aiming to expand prospects for bilateral relations. 

The two leaders also discussed the Second Ministerial Conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum, calling it an important platform to deepen partnership and economic cooperation.

Regional issues including Gaza, Sudan, and Libya were also discussed. 

Both sides stressed the need to end the war in Gaza, consolidate the ceasefire, and prevent further escalation.  

President El Sisi also reaffirmed Egypt’s support for political solutions to the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
