Egyptian authorities have decided to continue the opening of Rafah crossing as of Tuesday in both directions, according to the Palestinian embassy in Cairo.
In a statement, the embassy stated that these measures come as a result of intensive bilateral discussions and contacts between the Egyptian and Palestinian leaderships to facilitate the travel and return of Palestinian citizens to and from the Gaza Strip.
Palestinian ambassador to Egypt Diab al-Louh thanked Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and concerned officials for their sincere and tireless efforts in reducing the burdens of Palestinian people.
Egypt has been opening the crossing on an exceptional basis from time to time, to enable the travel of numbers of Palestinians, especially humanitarian cases.
The Rafah crossing is the only gate for the residents of the Gaza Strip, numbering around two million, to the outside world.
