On Friday, Egypt reported 433 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total infection tally to 292,018 since the outbreak began in February 2020, according to the Health Ministry in its daily coronavirus update statement.

The health ministry also reported 11 new deaths, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus to 16,847.

The statement added that 532 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 245,325.

Based on their estimation the fourth wave of COVID-19 would reach its peak in late September and early October.

Egypt – which has already vaccinated more than 11 million citizens according to the latest numbers released by health minister Hala Zayed last week– has been recently intensifying its vaccination to achieve its announced target of 40 million inoculated citizens by the end of 2021.
