Egypt confirmed on Sunday 127 new coronavirus infections, raising the total cases to 105,424 since the beginning of the virus outbreak.
"Eleven more deaths were confirmed; raising the total number to 6,120," Khaled Megahed, the Health Ministry’s spokesman, said in a statement.
"Up to 98,247 coronavirus patients have recovered so far," the spokesman said.
"As many as 90 Egyptians were among the recovered patients today," he added.
Earlier, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said the anti-coronavirus measures will continue during the coming period with the approach of autumn.
Madbouli called for caution in the wake of the noticeable increase of the virus cases during the past period, warning that penalties against those who do not abide by the pandemic measures will be firmly applied.
He also called for receiving COVID-19 cases at isolation hospitals with offering health services necessary for them and tightening precautionary measures.
On her part, Minister of Health Hala Zayed reviewed urged people to abide by the precautionary measures, including wearing face masks.
The ministry raises its preparedness at all the country’s ports and airports to monitor the virus developments, receiving inquires from citizens about the virus through its hotline 105 or 15335 or through on the Sehet Misr (Egypt's health) mobile application.
