On Wednesday, Egypt and Qatar reaffirmed their joint mediation efforts to broker a ceasefire in Gaza, emphasizing that their work remains coordinated, consistent, and grounded in a shared goal of alleviating the worsening humanitarian crisis in the Palestinian enclave.
In a joint statement, the two countries stressed that their diplomacy aims to end the war and mitigate civilian suffering through a comprehensive de-escalation.
“Their mediation efforts are ongoing and aligned, based on a unified vision to end the unprecedented humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip and ease the suffering of civilians by creating the conditions necessary for a comprehensive truce,” the statement read.
The two governments also condemned attempts to undermine their cooperation, warning against what they described as divisive rhetoric and media escalation.
“Efforts to sow discord among brothers—whether through doubt, distortion, or media provocation—will not succeed,” the statement continued. “Such attempts will not deter us from continuing our joint efforts to end the war and the humanitarian catastrophe it has caused.”
Egypt and Qatar reiterated that they will not be drawn into internal or political calculations that do not serve the interests of the Palestinian people. Both nations pledged to continue working within a clear framework that prioritizes ending civilian suffering and achieving a sustainable ceasefire.
The statement concluded by noting that both countries are closely coordinating with the United States to secure an agreement that would end the humanitarian tragedy and ensure the protection of civilians.
The renewed diplomatic push comes amid escalating violence in Gaza. Early Wednesday, Gaza’s Civil Defense reported that nine people were killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting a school sheltering displaced families in central Gaza—just hours after the same school was hit in a previous strike that killed at least 22 people.
