Egypt Plans to Set Up Largest Medical City in Africa, ME

Egypt is set to establish the largest medical city in Africa and the Middle East region with investments worth EGP 20 billion in Badr city.

Ammar Mandour, head of the Badr City Development Authority, said in press statements on Friday that 90% of the project's investments is Egyptian. He added that the preliminary inspection of the venture had been completed, according to Masrawy.

"The city will include 13 specialized medical institutes with a capacity of 2,000 beds, educational hospital, an air ambulance landing spot, a natural therapeutic garden, and a plant nursery," Mandour stated.

He noted that he ordered the city's officials to end all the project's requirements, describing it as a mega national project.

In the same context, General Secretary of Badr University and the medical city Mohammed Suleiman pointed out that the medical service at the venture, set be built on an area of 109 feddans, would start after 30 months of the beginning of construction works.

Suleiman mentioned that the project would be completely finished within five years, adding that foreign companies would contribute to helping in its administration in the first five years after its being established alongside the Egyptian expertise abroad.
