Egypt’s Minister of Defence and Military Production Abdel Mageed Saqr met on Friday with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir to discuss ways of enhancing military cooperation between the two countries.
Munir, who is visiting Egypt with an accompanying delegation, held talks with Saqr on a range of issues of mutual interest, the Defence Ministry said in a statement.
The discussions focused on supporting and developing military relations and exchanging views on regional and international matters contributing to security and stability.
Saqr expressed appreciation for the historic ties between the Egyptian and Pakistani armed forces and stressed the importance of continued coordination to address regional challenges and strengthen efforts to maintain security amid rapid regional and global developments.
Munir, on his part, reaffirmed Pakistan’s keenness to expand military cooperation with Egypt, praising Cairo’s pivotal role in promoting peace and stability in the Middle East. He described collaboration with the Egyptian military as a cornerstone of regional security.
Separately, Egyptian Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa also met Munir at the Defence Ministry headquarters, where an official reception ceremony was held, including the playing of the national anthems of both countries.
During their meeting, the two sides discussed ways to bolster military cooperation, exchange expertise, and enhance training programmes aimed at improving operational readiness and combat efficiency.
Khalifa highlighted the importance of coordination in training, defence manufacturing, and counterterrorism, while Munir expressed admiration for the advanced capabilities of Egypt’s armed forces and Pakistan’s commitment to expanding joint cooperation.
