Egypt is intensifying efforts to strengthen tourism cooperation with China as part of a broader strategy to diversify source markets and increase international visitor numbers.
The head of the Egyptian Chamber of Travel and Tourism Agencies said that a recent promotional tour in three major Chinese cities aimed to showcase Egypt’s tourism offerings, including cultural, archaeological, leisure, and beach destinations. The tour was organized in coordination with the Ministry of Tourism and private sector stakeholders.
Despite the return of Chinese tourists to Egypt, officials noted that current arrivals—estimated at around 300,000 visitors—remain below the market’s potential. Egypt is seeking to significantly increase that figure by expanding promotional activities and developing tourism programs tailored to Chinese travelers.
Improved air connectivity between Egypt and China was also highlighted as a key factor in boosting tourism flows, with direct flights expected to play a larger role in facilitating travel between the two countries.
Officials expressed optimism that expanded cooperation with Chinese travel companies and platforms will contribute to sustained growth in tourist arrivals and support the recovery of Egypt’s tourism sector.
