Egypt’s Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk announced that a silver commemorative medal will be issued in honour of Egypt’s national football team following their historic qualification for the second round of the World Cup.
Kouchouk said he was delighted with Egypt’s progress in the tournament and praised the national unity shown by Egyptians in supporting the team.
“I am very happy with our team’s qualification for the second round and with all Egyptians coming together to support Egypt’s national team, which has made us proud,” he said.
The minister also wished the players and technical staff success in the coming stage, saying he hoped the team would continue its strong performance.
Gamal Hussein, Head of the Public Treasury and Mint Authority, said the commemorative medal will be minted from 900-grade silver.
He added that the medal will feature a distinctive design combining the symbolism of the global sporting event with Egypt’s ancient civilisation and cultural identity.
The medal will be available through the sales outlet of the Public Treasury and Mint Authority starting from mid-July.
