The Russian company, "Rosatom", confirmed that the issuance of the license to build the first nuclear unit at the Egyptian El-Dabaa nuclear plant is a pivotal event because it paves the way for the start of large-scale construction work.

It is worth mentioning that the Dabaa nuclear plant is the first of its kind launched by Egypt, and it is being built in the Marsa Matrouh Governorate on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, about 300 km northwest of the capital, Cairo.

Two days ago, the Egyptian Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority granted approval to establish the first electricity unit at the El Dabaa nuclear plant.

"The Dabaa nuclear power plant will be the first plant of this generation on the African continent, and it will provide Egypt with a basis for strengthening its technological leadership in the region," said Alexei Likhachev, director-general of the Russian state nuclear energy company Rosatom, which is responsible for the project.

Egypt cooperates with Russia to build the El-Dabaa plant, which consists of 4 nuclear reactors, each with a capacity of 1,200 megawatts, with a total capacity of 4,800 megawatts.
