Saudi media reports have revealed the possibility of relocating the upcoming friendly match between the Egypt national football team and the Saudi Arabia national football team, scheduled for March 26, from Qatar to Cairo due to escalating regional security concerns.

The Qatar Football Festival, set to take place in Doha from March 26 to 31, is facing potential cancellation amid ongoing regional instability and rising tensions involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.

The Egyptian national team, led by the Hassan twins, was among the participants expected to compete in the tournament.

According to the Saudi newspaper Al Riyadiah, the Saudi technical staff, headed by French coach Hervé Renard, is currently discussing alternative plans in case the festival is called off.

One proposed option includes moving the Egypt vs Saudi Arabia match to Cairo, while a second friendly between Saudi Arabia and Serbia national football team could be staged in Jeddah.

These matches are part of Saudi Arabia’s preparations for the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19.

The Saudi Football Federation has stated that the Qatar training camp remains in place for now and that it is closely monitoring developments in coordination with Qatari authorities. Any updates will be announced in due course.
