Egypt, Jordan military chiefs hold talks in Cairo

Egyptian Defense Minister and Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Gen. Abdel Meguid Saqr met with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Jordanian Armed Forces Lt. Gen. Yousef Ahmed Al Huneiti, and his delegation in Cairo on Sunday.

During the talks, they discussed ways of boosting military cooperation and reviewed regional and international developments affecting Middle East security.

Separately, Egyptian Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Ahmed Khalifa received Al Huneiti at the Defense Ministry with an official reception that included military honors and national anthems.

Khalifa reaffirmed the strong ties between the Egyptian and Jordanian armed forces and said Egypt is committed to broadening cooperation in all military fields. Al Huneiti expressed Jordan’s intention to expand cooperation with Egypt in the coming period and praised Egypt’s role in supporting security in the region.

The meetings were attended by senior commanders from both armies and Jordan’s defense attaché in Cairo.
