French Prime Minister Jean Castex told his Egyptian Counterpart Mostafa Madbouly on Tuesday that his country is keen to increase its investments in Egypt to support development efforts in the North African country.

During their meeting, the French prime minister praised the role Egypt plays in maintaining balance in the Middle East, citing it as the "Cradle of Civilization".

On the other hand, Madbouly, who is on an official visit to Paris since Sunday, met Castex earlier Tuesday to discuss enhancing bilateral relations, particularly in the fields of major development projects, energy, transportation, education, health, culture, and tourism, as well as cooperation in the military and security fields.

In the same spirit, he underscored the economic accomplishments Egypt succeeded in achieving over the past period, saying Egypt is now carrying out an ambitious economic development plan as it launched Egypt Vision 2030 in February of 2016.

The Egyptian high official revealed that his nation tends to develop relations with Paris, especially at the economic and commercial levels via increasing the volume of French investments in Egypt given what France represents as one of Egypt's most important partners in Europe.
