Egypt's government inked three agreements with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to carry out development projects funded by the Netherlands and Japan.
According to Egypt's Irrigation Ministry, the projects focus on controlling the productivity of land and water and upgrading irrigation techniques in partnership with the Japanese and Dutch governments.
The agreements were signed by Egypt's Irrigation Minister Hany Soweilam and FAO representative in Egypt Nasredin Hag at the Irrigation Ministry headquarters.
In his remarks, the minister lauded extended thanks to the Netherlands and Japan for financing these projects, praising the fruitful partnership with the FAO to upgrade irrigation systems and increase water production.
Soweilam noted that the projects will contribute to supporting the state’s efforts on upgrading irrigation systems, boost water production, and enhance food security under the Sustainable Development Strategy (SDS): Egypt Vision 2030.
