The draw ceremony for the 2026 World Cup, currently being held at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in the U.S. capital, Washington, resulted in Egypt being placed in Group G.
Egypt will compete in the 2026 World Cup alongside Belgium, which was placed in Pot 1, and Iran, which was in Pot 2.
The tournament is set to be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico with the participation of 48 teams for the first time in history.
This draw is exceptional in every sense of the word because it is the first edition of the World Cup to feature 48 teams.
Six slots for participating teams have not yet been decided, two will qualify through the intercontinental playoff and four through the European playoff.
The playoff matches (global and European) will be held in March 2026.
The 2026 World Cup is scheduled to take place from June 11 to July 19. The draw ceremony is broadcast globally months before the start of the expanded tournament, which for the first time in history will feature 48 national teams.
During the event, each team learns its opponents for summer 2026, with matches held across stadiums in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
