The Egyptian ambassador to London Tarek Adel said on Tuesday that Egypt is conducting intensive talks with the Palestinian and Israeli sides and all other parties involved in order to reach a ceasefire agreement.
In an interview with BBC Radio 4, Adel said that the Egyptian government had warned of the repercussions of the recent escalation between Palestinians and Israelis following the Israeli escalation in East Jerusalem and the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood during Ramadan.
He urged all active partners, including the United Kingdom and the United States to play a role in reaching a ceasefire agreement.
He pointed out that the ceasefire is Egypt's top priority in light of the increasing number of civilian deaths in both Palestine and Israel.
