On Saturday, the Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said that his country is committed to reduce the military conflict in Libya.

During his participation in the 24th round table session organized by the Economist group, Shoukry called for achieving a comprehensive political solution to the Libyan crisis through a Libyan-Libyan dialogue.

Shoukry explained that Egypt's signing of the agreements to demarcate the maritime borders with Cyprus and Greece came to maximize the benefit from the natural resources that the Mediterranean holds.

Shoukry added that the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum aims to create a platform to ensure energy security and enhance cooperation projects.

Earlier this week, The Egyptian FM stated that Egypt supports the efforts made to settle the conflict in Libya, and that his country has no reservations about any Libyan party participating in the political process.

During a press conference with his Armenian counterpart Zohrab Mnatsakanyan last Sunday, the FM said Egypt adheres to finding a Libyan-Libyan political solution under the umbrella of the United Nations. He stressed on the need to ensure the country's territorial integrity and respect the relevant international decisions.

“Egypt has intervened to stabilize the military situation in Libya," he said.

He noted that there are "external interventions to serve expansionist policies in Libya, criticizing “those who bring foreign fighters and terrorist organizations to Libya."

The Egyptian Foreign Minister has blamed Turkey for “destabilizing expansionary policies in the region.”
