The Confederation of African Football's (CAF) technical director Abdel Moneim Hussein “Shatta" said on Monday that the Egyptian state could host the upcoming 2021 Africa Cup of Nations instead of being held in Cameroon.

In statements to On Sports, Shatta said that the football's governing body in Africa is considering holding the next tournament in Egypt.

"CAF made a mistake when they decided to organize the tournament with the participation of 24 teams and all the African states have not the ability to host such events, except Egypt and South Africa," Shatta added.

"A delegation from FIFA visited the stadiums, which are set to host the matches in Cameroon and it said that they are not ready to host the games."

"South Africa and Egypt are the only two countries, which are able to host the upcoming tournament and CAF edges closer to calling for Egypt to host the tournament."
