Egypt stated that it has been following with deep concern the events in South Kordofan State and the heinous attacks on the headquarters of the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) in Kadugli, Sudan.
The attacks resulted in the death of six Bangladeshi soldiers and the injury of eight others in a drone bombing.
In a statment issued by Foreign Ministry, Egypt condemned in the strongest terms these attacks, which constitute a flagrant violation of the principles of international law, and offered its sincere condolences to the families of the victims and the government and people of Bangladesh.
Moreover, Egypt reiterated its call for an immediate ceasefire, which would allow for a serious humanitarian response from all parties in the international community to enhance the access of humanitarian aid and provide safe havens for displaced persons fleeing the horrors of war, and to reach a comprehensive political solution led by the people of Sudan.
