Health Ministry: Egypt Succeeds in Manufacturing Medicines Included in Corona Protocol

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, confirmed that the Coronavirus pandemic proved the strength of the Egyptian health system and the strength of the Egyptian drug market, as local companies succeeded in manufacturing many of the medicines included in the treatment protocols.

He added that Egypt had manufactured the drug “Molonpiravir”, which treats the Coronavirus locally so that Egypt would become the first country in the Middle East to issue an emergency registration license for the drug locally.

Regarding health care services that aim to improve the public health of citizens, the Minister of Health affirmed that work is in full swing to implement the comprehensive health insurance system in the governorates of the Republic, in implementation of the directives of the political leadership to expand the application of the system in governorates with a high population density, stressing the continuation of providing services to citizens through the Insurance Authority.
