MFA Press Release
-------------
The Arab Republic of Egypt expresses its utmost condemnation of the statements attributed to the Israeli Prime Minister concerning the displacement of Palestinians from their land, including via the Rafah crossing, as part of his continuous attempts to prolong the period of escalation in the region and entrench instability to avoid confronting the consequences of Israeli violations in Gaza, both internally and externally.
The Arab Republic of Egypt reiterates its condemnation and rejection of the displacement of the Palestinian people under any pretext, whether forced or voluntary, from their land through the continued targeting of civilians, civilian infrastructure, and various aspects of life in order to compel Palestinians to leave. It affirms that such practices constitute a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and amount to crimes of ethnic cleansing, calling upon the international community to activate accountability mechanisms for these declared crimes, which are gradually becoming a tool of political propaganda in Israel as a result of the absence of international justice.
Egypt reiterates that it will never be a partner in this injustice through the liquidation of the Palestinian cause or by becoming a gateway for displacement, stressing that this matter remains an immutable red line. In this regard, it calls for confronting the state of chaos that Israel seeks to entrench in the region, for a ceasefire in Gaza, Israel’s withdrawal from the Strip, and the provision of international support to enable the legitimate Palestinian Authority to return to Gaza, including at the crossings, and for the latter to be reoperated in accordance with the relevant international agreements, including the 2005 Agreement on Movement and Access governing the Rafah crossing from the Palestinian side.
Egypt emphasizes the responsibility of the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), to provide protection for the Palestinian people and support their steadfastness on their land in Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. It also calls for pressuring Israel to end its occupation of Palestinian land and reiterates its rejection of attempts to force the Palestinian people to choose between remaining under Israeli bombardment and systematic starvation or being expelled from their homeland. Moreover, Egypt stresses that the realization of a Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital, remains the inevitable option that will ultimately prevail, as it is consistent with the right to self-determination, human rights, humanitarian logic, and all relevant international resolutions.
