Egypt on Thursday condemned Israeli court's decision which granted Jewish worshipers limited right to pray at al-Aqsa Mosque in the old city of East Jerusalem.

"This decision is considered a violation to Islamic sanctities as well as the Al-Aqsa Mosque, which is a purely Muslim place of worship," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Furthermore, the ministry restressed the need to respect the historical and legal status of Al-Quds and its Islamic and Christian holy sites, in accordance with international legitimacy issued by the United Nations and UNESCO.

It also expressed its deep concern about the consequences that will result from the decision and its repercussions on security and stability in the region.

Therefore, Egypt called on the Israeli government not to take any measures that would put the decision into effect or prejudice the status quo of the blessed al-Aqsa Mosque, the statement concluded.

Also, Palestine condemned the unprecedented decision as a flagrant aggression against the al-Aqsa Mosque, stating that this decision constitutes a declaration of war against the Palestinian people and the Arab and Islamic nations and an open call to a religious war in the region, according to WAFA News Agency.
