Egypt has issued a categorical condemnation of the acts of storming and vandalism targeting the Consulate General of the State of Kuwait in Basra.
In a statement, Egypt described the incident as a flagrant violation of the sanctity of diplomatic and consular missions and emphasized its total rejection of such destructive actions, which contravene international law.
The statement also highlighted the necessity of protecting and securing diplomatic and consular premises in accordance with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, reaffirming that targeting such missions constitutes a blatant breach of international legal provisions.
Furthermore, Egypt condemned the criminal attacks that targeted energy and infrastructure facilities in Kuwait and the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, as well as telecommunications facilities in the United Arab Emirates. It also denounced the reprehensible targeting of civilian installations in Qatar and Bahrain, labeling these acts as a direct violation of the sovereignty of brotherly nations.
Moreover, Egypt affirmed its full solidarity and support for the sovereignty, security, and stability of the Gulf states. It also expressed hope that President Trump’s announcement regarding the two-week suspension of military operations would serve as an opportunity for a permanent cessation of all unjustified attacks on the Gulf.
In conclusion, Egypt stressed that any future agreement to end the war must address security concerns and respect the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and regional safety of the Gulf countries, in line with the principles of international law and good neighborliness.
