Egypt has strongly condemned the targeting of an Emirati oil tanker while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, describing the incident as a serious violation of international law and a threat to regional stability.

In an official statement, Cairo denounced the attack in the strongest terms, stressing that targeting commercial vessels and disrupting vital maritime routes undermines the principles of freedom of navigation guaranteed under international law.

Egypt warned that such actions pose a significant risk not only to the security of the region but also to global energy supplies and international trade flows, given the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz as a key shipping corridor.

The statement reaffirmed Egypt’s full solidarity with the United Arab Emirates, backing all measures taken to safeguard its national security and protect its economic interests.

Cairo also emphasized that the security of Gulf states is closely linked to Egypt’s own national security, underlining the deep strategic ties between Egypt, the UAE, and the wider region.
