Egypt continues to work on the Delta project, which aims to construct the artificial river" canal to deliver the water needed to cultivate about 2.2 million acres within the New Delta project in the Western Desert.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi met earlier with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, El-Said Marzouq El-Qosair, the Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, and a number of leaders of the Egyptian Armed Forces, and heads of the National Company for Land Reclamation, to discuss the importance of the project.
The president stressed the need for coordination between all parties to complete the elements of the project and use modern irrigation systems within the framework of the policy of rationalizing water consumption and raising the efficiency of its management, according to what was published by the "Sada Al-Balad" website.
The work of the implementation of the world's largest industrial river is being completed as a length of 114 km to exploit agricultural, groundwater and surface wastewater in agriculture after treatment at the bathroom water station.
The river is due to produce about 10 million cubic meters of water.
It also includes about 22 km of pipes buried underground, whose function is to transport groundwater, agricultural drainage, and surface water after being treated at the Al-Hamam water station to cultivate 2 million and 200 thousand acres in the Western Desert.
The project will also includes the open path of the river extends for a length of 92 km, and the state has already finished 35% of the construction works for water transmission pipes, and 65% of the open area works.
On his part, Minister of Irrigation Hani Sweilem confirmed that the New Delta project is a major project to be added to the agricultural area in Egypt.
