Egypt, Azerbaijan Discuss Boosting Cooperation in Tourism, Antiquities Fields

The Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Ahmed Issa received Elkhan Polukhov, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Cairo to discuss ways to enhance joint cooperation between the two countries on the tourism and archaeological level.

The meeting dealt with discussing strengthening joint cooperation to boost tourism movement from Azerbaijan to Egypt, especially in light of the facilities recently provided by the Egyptian state to a number of countries to obtain tourist visas.

A proposal to operate a direct flight line between the two countries was also discussed in coordination with the Ministry of Civil Aviation, given that the current flight line between them is a transit flight.

They also discussed ways to activate and benefit from the cooperation protocol signed between the two countries in 2007 in the field of tourism.

The conversation also touched on maximizing aspects of cooperation in the field of archaeological work and exchanging experiences in the field of preserving antiquities, with regard to museums and the recovery of stolen and illegally smuggled antiquities outside the country.
