Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced that Saturday, April 25, will be an official paid holiday across the country in celebration of Sinai Liberation Day.
The decision applies to employees in ministries, government agencies, public authorities, local administration units, as well as public sector and state-owned enterprise companies, according to an official cabinet statement.
Sinai Liberation Day commemorates the full withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Sinai Peninsula in 1982, marking a key milestone in Egypt’s modern history following the Egypt–Israel Peace Treaty.
