Egypt Adopts New Tradition for Cairo Book Fair

Dr. Enas Abdel Dayem, Minister of Culture, announced the creation of a new tradition for “ the guest of honor” of Cairo International Book Fair.

This came as the Ministry of Culture was organizing a ceremony for handing over the title to the next country.

It is worthy of note that Eli Saibi, Ambassador of Senegal in Cairo, delivered the title of the guest of honor – for the 51st Edition, to Nicholas Garridides, ambassador of Greece, for the 52nd edition.

The guest of honor event was attended by Dr. Haitham Al-Hajj, head of the Egyptian General Book Authority.

The 52nd edition will be held in the beginning of 2021.

During the closing ceremony of Cairo International Book Fair, Abdel Dayem said that the number of visitors reached 3 million and 200 thousands visitors until yesterday.

The minister praised the distinguished Senegalese participation for this year, which came within the celebrations of Egypt Presidency of the African Union.

The minister confirmed that the Book Fair displayed the features of culture and arts in Senegal. She appreciated the participation of Greece as the guest of honor of the coming Edition - 2021.

On his part, Ambassador of Senegal in Cairo thanked Egypt as President, Government, People and the Ministry of Culture for choosing his country as an a guest of honor for the 51st edition of Cairo International Book Fair, affirming the depth of relations and ties between the two countries.

On the other hand, the Ambassador of Greece expressed his happiness for choosing his country as the guest of honor of the 52nd edition of the Fair.

The Greece diplomat said that he spent a long time of his life in Egypt , narrating some glimpses of his visit to the Book Fair - 43 years ago during his stay in Al- Gezira district.

The diplomat stressed that a distinguished program is being prepared in which his country will participate in the activities of the next Edition of Cairo Book Fair.

He praised the strong cooperation with the Egyptian culture Ministry in various creative fields.
