Egypt Administers 60 Mln Doses of COVID-19 Vaccines

On Sunday, the Egyptian Acting Minister of Heath Khaled Abdel Ghaffar said that Egypt has administered a total of 60 million doses of the coronavirus vaccines.

The minister said the country has administered 36,366, 230 first vaccine shots and 23,600,550 second vaccine shots.

He added that the country has imported a total of 119,288,130 vaccine doses with 64,335,246 still available for use.

Cairo International Airport received on Saturday more than 1.9 million Moderna and Pfizer coronavirus vaccine doses.

According to informed sources, the shipment included 462,000 Moderna doses and 1,501,000 Pfizer doses. The shipment was handed to the Ministry of Health, according to the sources.

The country is currently struggling with the fourth wave of the pandemic, reporting so far a total of 383,857 cases and 21,695 deaths, according to the latest official count on Friday, since the pandemic started in Egypt in February last year.
