Tarek El-Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources held talks, Tuesday, with Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA), on the sidelines of the EGYPS 2022 conference.
During the meeting, both officials discussed ways to support joint cooperation between Egypt and IEA in the fields of energy, especially the clean one, in light of the global energy map shift and the impact of new supply and demand patterns, amid calls to rely on cleaner energy sources.
In this regard, Al-Molla stressed that the IEA has a long experience in the fields of research, development, and improvement of energy efficiency and its uses, and has valuable publications concerned with global energy issues.
On his part, Fatih confirmed that he was keen to participate in the Egypt International Conference and Exhibition "EGYPS 2022", which is considered one of the key events at the global and regional levels.
Moreover, he added that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's keenness to attend the conference and his talk about the necessity of paying attention to African countries to benefit from their natural resources comes in line with the International Energy Agency's plan to alleviate the suffering of the African population in obtaining clean energy.
