The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) issued a statement supporting Zamalek in their crisis against Generation Foot in the CAF Champions League.

The Senegalese club withdrew from the White Knights' encounter in the second leg of the last 32, after the CAF approved the Cairo Giants’ request to change the venue of the clash to Alexandria, 220 km from Cairo.

Generation Foot said in a statement that they sent another letter confirming that Zamalek’s request to postpone the match for security reasons is completely untrue as everything is fine.

On its part, the EFA affirmed its support to all the Egyptian clubs, who participate in the regional tournaments. "The state officials are keen on the relationships linking EFA and regional and continental federations," the statement read.

"Based on this, the EFA had no choice according to letters exchanged with the African Football Federation not to open stadiums for fans last week especially Borg El Arab to protect the fans based on the fact that it hosted clashes at the Egyptian Cup final and Super Championship in the fans present.," the statement added.

Regarding the CAF inquiry about holding some games at the same time in the Egyptian League in Cairo, the EFA said that all the encounters, held during the same day, was played without fans. The EFA expressed their hopes that the CAF could take the right decision in this regard.

"We hope that CAF would take the right decision, which we believe that it will be in the interest of the Egyptian club Zamalek according to official correspondence," the statement concluded.
