The Egyptian Football Association is studying re-naming this edition of the Egyptian Premier League - Nile League to late Modern Sport playmaker Ahmed Refaat.
The decision is widely backed by football lovers in Egypt who wanted to honor the late player whose tragedy with illness started in the heart of the field during his team's game against Alexandrian Al Ittihad last March.
The member of the EFA board of directors Ehab El Komy said that the panel is welcoming the idea.
Early Saturday, Modern Sport (FKA Future) Ahmed Refaat passed away after suffering from sudden medical complications.
The news was announced in an official statement by the club, saying: "With heavy and sorrowful hearts, Modern Sport club and Egypt international Ahmed Refaat passed away."
The statement also offered the club condolences to his family, and friends.
Last March, Refaat collapsed in the field during Modern Sport game against Al Ittihad, shortly, the medical team interfered to help the player who was suffering from a heart attack. The player was transported to the hospital and stayed in the intensive care for almost two weeks.
Two week ago, Refaat has the chance to speak about his illness and medical crisis, and visited his Modern Sport teammates before their game against El Gouna.
