The coach of the Egyptian National U-23 (Olympic) team Rogério Micale is reportedly within the Egyptian Football Association's (EFA) interests in coaching the first team, local media reports said on Friday.

Several EFA board of directors believe that Micale has good performance with the Olympic team, and has a good background about the football scene in Africa, so, he deserves to be called up for the first team.

On the other hand, Rui Vitoria, who may be sacked soon, desires to continue his path with the Egyptian team regardless of the latest AFCON 2023 upset.

It is worth mentioning that the EFA contract with Vitoria is a four-year contract. The contract was signed in 2022.

Last Sunday, in a gripping round-of-16 match at the African Nations Cup, Egypt, under coach Vitória, faced a heartbreaking exit after a penalty shootout defeat to the Democratic Republic of Congo. The intense battle, which concluded in a 1-1 draw in regulation and extra time, escalated to a high-stakes penalty shootout, ending 8-7 in favor of DR Congo.
