On Tuesday, Egypt National team goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy will be sidelined, and exit the Egypt National team camp after sustaining a shoulder injury during Egypt's match against Cape Verde, yesterday.
Dr. Mohamed Abu Elala, the team’s chief medical head, said that the duration of El-Shenawy’s absence would be determined after the extensive examination but he will miss the rest of the tournament.
EFA said later in a statement: “The X-rays confirmed the injury of Mohamed El-Shenawy, with a dislocated shoulder. As a result, he will be absent from the remaining matches of the Africa Cup of Nations."
It is expected that Rui Vitoria will call up Mohamed Abu Gabal to replace El Shenawy.
Egypt booked their seat in the knockouts after having a 2-2 draw with Cape Verde which succeded in qualifying to the next round. On the other hand, Mozambique and Ghana ended with a 2-2 draw.
