The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) named on Thursday Hossam El-Badry as the new head coach for the Egyptian national team.

The EFA's temporary board of directors headed Amr El-Ganainy announced that El-Badry is responsible for the formation of his technical staff. The decision came after Ihab Galal rejected the role, opting to stay with his club El-Masry till the end of the season.

The new head coach will succeed Javier Aguirre, who was sacked by the Former EFA board of directors following the Pharaohs’ exit from the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations after they suffered a shocking defeat by South Africa 0-1 at Cairo Stadium.

In August, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi announced that the upcoming coach for the Pharaohs would be an Egyptian.

It is worth mentioning that the Federation International Football Association appointed on Tuesday, August 20 a normalization committee to run EFA.

FIFA’s decision came after the recent resignation of the Egyptian Football Association President Hany Abo Rida, as well as the entire broad members.

The committee included Amr Youssef Hassan El Ganainy as a chairman, Gamal Mohamed Ali as a vice president, Sahar Abdel Hak Ahmed, Mohamed Fadl Zahran, and Ahmed Abdallah Rady as members.

The Pharaohs were picked in Group G alongside Kenya, Togo, and Comoros for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers as they will kick off their adventure against Kenya on Monday, November 11 in Egypt.
