On Friday, Minister of Education Tarek Shawki denied rumors claiming that students can leave school every day at 11 a.m.

Recently, misleading statements spread on social media, alleging that duration of classes will be reduced from 45 minutes to 35. In this regard, students may leave school and go home at 11 a.m.

“Everything that is said in this matter is baseless, illogical and not worthy of comment,” Shawki affirmed.

New academic year 2021/2022 will start from tomorrow, Saturday, in 12 governorates where the 'Saturday vacation' is not applied. For the rest of governorates that apply the 'Saturday vacation', it will start on Sunday.

Dr. Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Health Affairs, has previously stressed that Egypt is making remarkable progress in the vaccination process in all governmental and private sectors.

“Both Ministries of Education and Higher Education have developed a plan for all employees by providing covid vaccines directly,” Tag El-Din said, adding that during the next few weeks, large quantities of vaccines will be pumped, especially for university students.

Therefore, there is no intention to postpone the new academic year, whether for university or pre-university education.
