Goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has come back to Chelsea after suffering a right thigh injury, during his training with Senegal.

The 28-year-old joined the Blues on a five-year contract last month and kept a clean sheet on his Premier League debut against Crystal Palace.

"Mendy had a medical examination in a hospital in Rabat, where Senegal are due to play Morocco," Chelsea said.

"Mendy has since returned to Chelsea where he will undergo further examinations," the club added.

The player's agent told the BBC that the injury is "not that bad" and his recovery should take about 10 days.

Chelsea will return to action in the Premier League with a home game against Southampton on Saturday, 17 October.

Senegal will play Morocco in a friendly on Friday.
