Ali Reza Sedaghat, an economist and Iranian dissident, stated today that the wave of extreme poverty hitting Iranian households—characterized by terrifying inflation figures—is the inevitable result of decades of systematic looting and the destructive policies of the "Velayat-e Faqih" regime, which has reached a total dead end following the death of Ali Khamenei.
Sedaghat remarked: "The insane jump in the prices of basic goods—where solid vegetable oil recorded a point-to-point inflation of 375%, rising from 81,000 Tomans last year to over 385,000 Tomans today—reflects a total collapse in the citizens' purchasing power. Meanwhile, the nation's wealth evaporates into dark markets to fund the apparatus of repression and survival."
He added: "A simple loaf of bread has become an unattainable dream for exhausted families. Following the Hamadan Bakers Union’s admission of new pricing, the cost of local and Tafton bread has reached 35,000 Tomans, while Barbari bread has jumped to 16,500 Tomans. This places millions of Iranians before the specter of actual starvation, while government ministry agents continue to justify raising sugar prices to 125,000 Tomans per package under the pretext of production costs."
Continuing his explanation of the dimensions of strategic corruption, Sedaghat said: "While the people face this deprivation, reports have revealed that the Iranian oil trade has transformed into 'gang operations' managed through secret brokerage networks in Dubai and dark rooms within the Ministry of Oil. The dreams of Iranians are being stolen, and billions of dollars are being looted to secure the interests of the ruling mullah clique in the post-Khamenei era."
Sedaghat pointed out that the regime is futilely attempting to cover its deep cracks by escalating repression. He noted: "The recent execution of eight members of the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), among them Vahid Bani Amerian and Abolhassan Montazer, represents a desperate attempt by a dying system to instill terror. However, this blood will only increase the resolve of the Resistance Units to accelerate the overthrow of the crumbling structure of Velayat-e Faqih."
The economist emphasized that the ongoing external war has shattered the regime's military machine and hastened its demise. He noted that the only solution lies in the formation of the Provisional Government announced by Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, based on the 10-point plan to transition sovereignty to the Iranian people.
Sedaghat concluded his statement by saying: "The mullahs' regime effectively ended with the death of Khamenei and the disintegration of its economic and military pillars. The extreme prices and oil corruption we witness today are merely the death throes of a dictatorship that is now incapable of providing even the necessities of life. Meanwhile, the Resistance Units inside the country are strategically preparing for the decisive moment to announce the dawn of a new democratic republic."
