Denis Villeneuve’s hotly-anticipated “Dune” is set to world premiere at the 78th Venice Film Festival, which is scheduled to take place from 1-11 September.

The festival announced Thursday that the big-budget sci-fi epic starring Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya will world premiere in the "Out of Competition" section on September 3.

Venice’s upcoming edition will run as a completely in-person celebration of cinema with the attendee of hundreds of journalists and dozens of film delegations from around the globe.

The movie is adapted from Frank Herbert’s seminal science fiction bestseller of the same name, and centers around Paul Atreides (Chalamet), a scion of the noble House of Atreides that is tasked with overseeing the barren desert planet Arrakis, known as Dune.

Villeneuve was last in Venice with a non-conventional sci-fi pic “Arrival” in 2016.

The movie also features a star-studded cast that includes Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Sharon Duncan Brewster, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Chang Chen, David Dastmalchian, Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa, and Javier Bardem.

"Dune" arrives from Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures with Mary Parent, Denis Villeneuve, Cale Boyter, and Joe Caracciolo, Jr. producing the production and with Tanya Lapointe, Joshua Grode, Herbert W. Gains, Jon Spaihts, Thomas Tull, Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, and Kim Herbert, serving as executive producers.

“Dune” is scheduled to debut simultaneously on HBO Max and in theaters on October 1.
