Dr. Saeed Clarifies Misconceptions about Slimming

When it comes to slimming, many people think that eating one meal a day or taking slimming pills would reduce their weights in the long term.

Here is Dr. Baher El Saeed, a well-known pharmacist on social media, speaking during his weekly interview with InBox TV program aired on Sada El Balad 2 channel about misconceptions about slimming pills.

Many people believe that slimming pills only will lead to weight loss. Dr. Saeed says in this regard: "There is no magical medication for weight loss. The matter needs a true change in the lifestyle."

"Deciding to lose weight requires strong will, right food system, doing exercises, solving any reason causing obesity, and using safe and licensed slimming pills (if you need)," Dr. Saeed pointed out.

Common Mistakes in Slimming

One of the most common mistakes in reducing weight is to eat one meal daily. That is completely wrong because it causes low metabolism. Saeed clarified that right way is to eat several meals but with few quantities.

It is unhealthy not to eat breakfast. It is very important to be eaten early as much as you can. Drinking green tea with your breakfast will boost burning calories.

Depriving your body of starches - a kind of carbohydrates - won't lead to slimming. Eating a variety of proteins, vegetables, fruits, and starches is essential but to a certain extent.

The pharmacist stressed the importance of keeping yourself hydrated and avoiding mass-monster workout which needs much power and food.

Having enough sleep ranging between 7 to 9 hours is the healthiest way as sleeplessness increases the desire for eating more food due to the rise in ghrelin hormone in the body.

Stress, depression, and exhausting increase cortisone levels in your body and prevent from losing weight.

He also pointed to people who put themselves under pressure through weighing their body every day, advising them to weigh their bodies once a week or every ten days.

Dangerous Slimming Medications

Dr. Saeed said that the most dangerous slimming drugs are the unlicensed ones by the Health Ministry, warning that they could lead to possible death or heart problems.

During the TV show, he mentioned some prohibited drugs internationally which could be components of some slimming medications being sold online such as sibutramine, fenfluramine, and ephedrine as well as yohimbine and progesterone hormones.

Health Tips Note

He warned mothers not to mix between two kinds of drugs which lower their children's body temperature because it could lead to renal or acute liver failure.

The best way to treat from head lice is to wash your scalp by natural oils like olive oil or sesame oil then cover the head with a plastic bag till the next day to kill all insects in the hair. This should be done twice a week along with using vinegar.

Lead subacetate is so useful for bruises and hemorrhoids.

He further noted that eating fruits contributes to weight loss, but drinking them as juices increases the weight.

He also advised the audience not to overuse eye drops containing cortisone without doctor's permission as it causes eyelid dermatitis and white water eye and harms the optic nerve.
