Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma is set for a new chapter in the Premier League, with advanced negotiations underway for a move from Paris Saint-Germain to Manchester City during the current summer transfer window.
According to reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano, Donnarumma has already reached a preliminary agreement on personal terms with City and welcomed the opportunity to work under Spanish manager Pep Guardiola.
Romano added that talks between City and PSG are still ongoing to finalize the deal, which is expected to be worth less than the initial €50 million valuation.
However, the transfer remains tied to the future of Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson, who is widely expected to leave this summer amid strong interest from Turkish giants Galatasaray.
PSG’s stance shifted after internal discussions about Donnarumma’s contract—which runs until June 2026—leading the French club to consider selling the Italian this window. The decision coincided with the signing of French goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier from Lille, which further opens the door for Donnarumma’s departure.
Despite 22-year-old James Trafford starting City’s Premier League opener, a 4–0 win over Wolves, Guardiola is understood to be keen on reinforcing his squad with a more experienced option at the level of Ederson.
It is worth noting that Football Italia had earlier reported Manchester City’s interest in Donnarumma but suggested the English champions were reluctant to meet PSG’s asking price of £40 million.
