On Thursday, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary Anne DiCarlo stressed the need for the urgent resumption of the peace process in Libya, calling for the departure of all foreign militants and mercenaries from the afflicted nation.

In her address to the recent session of the International Council on Libya, DiCarlo called on all Libyan groups and international actors to work towards the implementation of this Action Plan.

In the same connection, DiCarlo pointed out that the deployment of an initial team of United Nations ceasefire monitors will contribute to creating the conditions for successful implementation of the Action Plan.

Also in this regard, she reiterated the commitment of the United Nations to support the Libyan people.

Many politicians and geopolitical experts recognize that the danger that the Libya conflict could be widened even further is reflected in mutual allegations by both protagonists of the involvement of external parties and the use by the other side of mercenaries and other foreign forces.
