Amid fears of spread of the novel coronavirus in Egypt, prominent writer Walid Abdel Aziz wrote a column calling people to be optimistic, saying that the coronavirus’s crisis has pushed the Egyptian state for more progress and development.

In a 459-word opinion piece, Abdel Aziz stressed that the corona virus crisis has proven that “Egypt is a coherent state whose body, organs and head are working in harmony thanks to mutual trust between the ruler and the people.”

He manifested that “Egypt in 2020 is totally different from Egypt before 2014.”

Abdel Azizi’s piece was published in al-Akhbar newspaper on Monday.

“The crisis of the coronavirus proved that Egypt succeeded in rediscovering itself thanks to a patriotic head of state, strong personalities, and sincere in his work,” he said.

According to the Egyptian columnist, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi succeeded in rebuilding modern Egypt and led an economic reform plan, adding that “Today, Egypt stands on two steady feet despite the cruelty and difficulty of the stage we are going through. The president during the five-year period chose more than one government to help him in managing the affairs of the country including engineer Mostafa Madbouly who was the Minister of Housing before being named Egypt’s prime minister.”

In his opinion, PM Madbouly has turned from a quiet premier to a very convincing figure whose sound performance has succeeded to persuade the citizens of his potentials to run crises.

“We should be proud of what we have reached so far despite the fact that the road is still long, but we must complete bridging the trust between people and the state organs,” he added.

Moreover, Abdel Aziz reaffirmed “Our unity and cohesion against the enemies of the country is an irreversible approach to life,” adding that Minister of Health Dr. Hala Zayed is doing a great job.
