In a move aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation on migration and workforce development, Nabil Habashi, Egypt’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Expatriates, held high-level talks with Ingrid-Gabriela Hoven, Director General of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), alongside her accompanying delegation.
The discussions focused on expanding joint cooperation in labor mobility, vocational and technical training, as well as strengthening the activities of the Egyptian-German Center for Jobs, Migration and Reintegration, which officials described as a successful model for bilateral collaboration in creating safe and organized migration pathways.
During the meeting, Habashi stressed the importance of increasing access to regular employment opportunities within the German labor market, underscoring their role in addressing irregular migration. He also highlighted the need to deepen partnerships with German federal states and private-sector stakeholders in both countries to support the qualification of Egyptian workers and create broader avenues for employment and professional training.
On her part, Hoven reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to building on the positive outcomes achieved in recent years, particularly in the field of migration cooperation. She emphasized the importance of ensuring the sustainability of joint initiatives and projects in ways that serve the long-term interests of both Egypt and Germany.
The talks reflect growing Egyptian-German coordination on managed migration and workforce development, amid increasing European demand for skilled labor and broader efforts to establish regulated migration frameworks between North Africa and Europe.
