The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported a new death toll from an Israeli airstrike near Aleppo in northern Syria early Friday morning, with 42 people killed.

According to the UK-based Observatory, the casualties included 36 Syrian regime forces and 6 members of Hezbollah, as a result of strikes targeting a Hezbollah missile depot and a nearby training center in the Jabrin area close to Aleppo International Airport, as per Agence France-Presse (AFP).

The official Syrian News Agency (SANA) quoted an unnamed military source saying that an Israeli airstrike targeted "several points in the Aleppo countryside," resulting in casualties among both "civilians and military personnel," although the exact number of victims was not specified by the French news agency.

This incident marks a significant escalation in the region, shedding light on the ongoing tensions and the complex interplay of forces in Syria.

The international community closely monitors these developments, concerned about the potential for further escalation.
